Black Family Land Trust

South Carolina, Alabama, and Georgia

Black Family Land Trust is a coalition of black farmers, community advocates and legal professionals working to implement a strategy for land conservation and ownership retention using public easement funds and funds from other sources to restore historically Black family lands to original ownership. This strategy for reclaiming Black family lands models an important community-based strategy for strengthening grassroots leadership of color and returning community land management to local communities to use as conservation/limited development land-based economies.
