How can Rural Regions best Engage Philanthropy and Leverage Assets?
NRFC formed in 2001 as a learning collaborative for National and Regional Funders to learn from one another about what makes for Effective Philanthropy in rural regions. An initial scan was developed through a Request for Qualification process that provided an overview of regional collaborative strategies across the Nation.
As NRFC engaged regional partners through Grantmaking, regional representatives as Grantees were invited to be a part of NRFC’s Steering Committee and decision making process. By trying to transcend the traditional roles of Funder and Grantee, NRFC has been able to engage a broadly represented and diverse Learning Network that has experienced some rich learnings to date.
