Learning Framework

Through its funding decisions and Learning Network, NRFC has focused on identification of regional collaborations of institutions and leaders working together to effect lasting community change in multi-county, statewide or even multi-state rural areas.  From that work, thematic interests and key areas of engagement have helped to identify a Learning Framework and more clearly focus NRFC’s collaborative work ahead.

NFRC has discovered that these regional efforts are each entirely unique and represents a convergence of interests, talents and resources reflecting the geography, culture(s), and specific challenges of place.  At the same time, they share common themes and interests, whether explicit or not, in at least three areas: community economic development and revitalization, leadership development/institutional transformation, and improvement in quality of life/civic participation of rural individuals, families and children.

In response to these common themes, NRFC has adopted a Learning Framework focused on the following outcomes:
