Attendance and Registration: The meeting will include approximately 75-100 attendants, representing a broad cross-section of those addressing issues of poverty, wealth creation, racial disparities, rural development, and economic opportunity within policy, philanthropy, academia, and practice. Participants have been identified based on their unique knowledge, experience and insight into the challenge of alleviating rural poverty. Guest lists will be available at the event. Airport & Ground Transportation Information: Reagan National Airport (DCA) is the recommended airport for the event. Taxi fares from DCA to the hotel should cost approximately $15 one way. From Dulles (IAD) or Baltimore/Washington International (BWI) airports, taxi fares range $75-$100. There is no hotel shuttle, but SuperShuttle (http://www.supershuttle.com/) and other shared ride services are available. From BWI, Amtrak and MARC train service is also available, which will take you to Union Station in D.C., 2 blocks from the hotel. Union Station is also the nearest METRO subway stop. Photo Release and Taping: NRFC will be take pictures throughout the event for use in electronic and printed materials. Unless notified in writing, we will use participant registration as consent to use your image for the purpose of conveying NRFC's work and partnerships. All plenary sessions will also be tape recorded.
Attire: Business casual is the recommended attire for the event. Please check the weather prior to the event, as DC weather fluctuates significantly. Also, air conditioning can make the conference facilities chilly, so layers may be helpful.
Meals: Please note that on the evenings of the 30th and 31st, dinner will be on your own. The Washington Post City Guide offers a searchable guide to area restaurants (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/artsandliving/cityguide/). The hotel is within walking distance of the Union Station and Chinatown dining areas, and accessible to most areas by subway or taxi.
